Coahoma Community College is proud to announce that its Career & Technical Education (CTE) Department has been awarded a significant grant to support educational initiatives in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This grant is part of a collaborative effort with Nissan, underscoring the importance of STEM education and fostering innovation and technological proficiency among students.

Recognizing the vital role of STEM in today’s rapidly evolving world, Coahoma Community College is eager to utilize this grant to ignite curiosity and enhance students' knowledge and skills in these critical fields. The partnership with Nissan reflects a shared commitment to preparing the next generation for the future’s challenges and opportunities.

Nissan continues its long-standing support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with a generous donation of $250,000, aimed at bolstering STEM education across Mississippi's seven HBCUs. Since the inception of the Mississippi HBCU STEM Initiative in 2014, Nissan has invested a total of $2.5 million in innovative programs. This will benefit Mississippi HBCU students, nurturing the tech workforce of the future.

Dr. Larry Webster, Dean of Career & Technical Education at Coahoma Community College, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and its impact on the students. "This grant is a tremendous opportunity for our students and faculty. With Nissan's support, we can enhance our STEM programs and provide our students with the resources they need to excel in innovation and technology. We are deeply grateful for Nissan's commitment to education and their continued support of HBCUs."

The seven HBCUs benefiting from Nissan’s donation include:

  • Alcorn State University
  • Coahoma Community College
  • Hinds Community College - Utica Campus
  • Jackson State University
  • Mississippi Valley State University
  • Rust College
  • Tougaloo College

Coahoma Community College is thrilled to be among the recipients of this significant investment. The funds will be used to enhance STEM programs, providing students with advanced educational tools and opportunities to excel in innovation and technology.
